Load cells

Red Rooster Lifting offers both the cabled RRI-CM range and wireless RRI-TS range of load cells, available for sale and hire. If you are looking to hire one of our Load Cells, please contact our team for the relevant spec sheet.

Our Load Cells have been developed to meet the ever increasing requirements of our customers. The load cells are available across the full range in capacity from 5 tonne to 500 tonne and are manufactured from low weight, high strength duralloy.

About our load cell products

Load cells have a number of applications in a variety of industries. Some of these include:

Industrial Weighing:

Load cells are commonly used in industrial scales to weigh heavy items. A 10-tonne load cell can be integrated into large scales used for weighing bulk materials, shipping containers, or heavy machinery.

Heavy Machinery Monitoring:

In industries where heavy machinery is involved, such as construction, mining, or manufacturing, load cells can be used to monitor and control forces on equipment. This helps in preventing overloading and ensuring safe operation.

Material Testing:

Load cells with higher capacities, like a 10-ton load cell, may be used in material testing applications where the forces applied to materials need to be accurately measured. This could include testing the strength and durability of structural components.

Tension and Compression Monitoring:

Similar to a 5-tonne load cell, a 10-tonne load cell can be used to monitor tension and compression forces in various applications. This is useful in processes where precise force control is necessary, such as in the manufacturing of materials or products.

Agricultural Equipment:

In the agricultural sector, load cells can be integrated into equipment such as grain silos, storage bins, or weighing systems for large quantities of harvested produce.

Shipping and Logistics:

Load cells are used in cargo handling systems, shipping terminals, and freight scales to accurately measure the weight of containers and shipments, ensuring compliance with transportation regulations.

Bridge and Structural Monitoring:

Load cells can be employed in structural health monitoring systems to measure loads on bridges, buildings, and other structures. A 10-tonne load cell would be suitable for applications where higher capacity is required.

Offshore and Marine Applications:

Load cells are used in offshore platforms, marine equipment, and winch systems to monitor and control the tension on cables, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of these systems.

All load cells are proof-loaded to 150% of the rated capacity and have a safety factor of 5:1 (minimum) and IP68 ingress protection. The ergonomically designed handset, with tactile switch membrane, allows one handed operation and is environmentally sealed against water and dust to IP64.

An easily accessible battery compartment allows the two “AA” batteries to be changed quickly.

Red Rooster Lifting’s series of load cell products, for use in engineering, industrial processes, manufacturing, and scientific research comply with the UK Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 and the European Machinery Directive. The equipment can be UKCA marked or CE marked.

FAQs

A “load link” is a specific type of load cell that is designed in a portable and compact form, often resembling a shackle or a link that can be easily integrated into lifting systems. The load link incorporates load sensing elements, such as strain gauges, to measure the force or load applied to it.

Here are some key features and applications of load link load cells:

Portable Design: Load links are designed to be portable and easy to use in various lifting and weighing applications. They often have a compact and rugged structure that allows them to be used in different environments.

Integrated Design: Load links are often integrated into the lifting or rigging system, replacing a standard shackle or link in the process. This integration makes them convenient for use in scenarios where measuring the load on the lifting equipment is essential.

Wireless Options: Some load links come with wireless capabilities, allowing for remote monitoring of the load without the need for physical connections. This can enhance safety and convenience in certain applications.

Load link load cells provide real-time data on the forces involved in lifting and tension applications, contributing to enhanced safety, efficiency, and precision in various industries.
